Autonomic Response Testing - ART  (Applied Kinesiology) is a simple, highly effective biofeedback technique that is useful in the treatment of stress, anxiety and inner tension.  It can be implemented to determine disturbances in the body and mind.  Assessment results can also be implemented in finding possible remedies. Autonomic Response Testing (ART) is an advanced form of muscle testing which is also known as applied kinesiology. ART is non-invasive, non-electronic, and can be used with people of any age.

ART involves the autonomic nervous system.  This is the part of the nervous system responsible for all of the automatic functions in your body such as your heartbeat, breathing, digestion, immune system response, and overall healing.  There are detectable and treatable problems within this part of the nervous system that are present in all stress, inner tension, and anxiety dysfunction.  There are also detectable problems for other issues such as allergies and chronic diseases.

ART is a valuable assessment tool that is helpful in determining root causes of stress, anxiety, inner tension and other health disturbances.  ART is a Functional Assessment test used by the Holistic/Integrative Doctor, which measures bodily function (or dysfunction), not specific disease.  Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt who blended the muscle testing of American Applied Kinesiology with the understanding of the anatomy and physiology of German Neural Therapy developed ART. The result is a highly structured muscle testing biofeedback system designed to give reliable and reproducible results.

The ANS is our functional nervous system, responsible for normal bodily functions, such as immune defense response, and abnormal adaptation to health problems. Conventional medicine and many Holistic Practioners do not understand the role of the ANS in health and healing.  ART is one of a growing number of functional assessment tools used by the Integrative Physician along with conventional tests and sound judgment to develop an integrative treatment strategy.
